IGNOU Announced Admission for Korean Language & Culture Program

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced admission for Certificate in Korean Language & Culture Program for July 2018 session.

The program aims at providing beginners with basics of Korean Language. The programme will be bilingual. i.e English and Korean will be the teaching mediums. The program has Self Learning Material (SLM) integrated with Audio-Visual components, which will further enhance learning capacity of students. The program will be available in all regions through respective Regional centres and anyone above 18 years of age with 10+2 will be eligible to take admission in this program- said Mr. Shivaji Bhaskar, Coordinator of the Program.

Korean Embassy delegation’s visit to IGNOU:

• On March 14, a delegation from Korean Embassy visited IGNOU and met the professor S B Arora, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU
• Kim Kum Pyoung, Director, Korean Culture Centre, India thanked the professor S B Arora, for the support the University has extended for the development of Korean language program

“The relation between India and the Republic of Korea is unique in nature. The relations which are more than 2 millennia old, provides both India & Korea an opportunity to reach new heights in social, economic and political spheres. Presently, thousands of people work in Korean giants like Samsung and Hyundai in India and due to this reason the demand of this program would be huge in India – said Prof Anju Sahgal Gupta, Director- School of Foreign Languages (SOFL)

India’s only program developed in ODL mode:

Mr. Bhaskar, coordinator of the Korean program, further informed that the Korean certificate level program would be the only such program in India which is developed in ODL mode with academic expertise provided by the Korean Embassy.

• Applicant should be 18 years or above of age
• Applicant should have studied 10+2 in any stream
• Applicant should have knowledge of English Language
• Minimum duration of course is 6 months
• Maximum duration is 2 years
• Course Fee: Rs 2,500/- for the full program
• Last date of admission: 15th of August, 2018
