If you’re a student at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and considering transferring to another university, you’ll need to apply for a migration certificate. Don’t worry, the process is simpler than you might think! Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Download and Print the Form

Start by downloading the migration certificate application form from the IGNOU website. Click here to access the form. Once downloaded, print it out so you can fill in the required details.

Step 2: Fill in Your Details

Now it’s time to fill in the form. Make sure you have the following information handy (Hint: All these details are available in your marksheet):

  • Your Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Address (Where you want Migration Certificate to be delivered)
  • Details of your last examination
  • Programme you passed
  • Year of Passing
  • Enrollment Number
  • Marks Obtained
  • Grades Obtained
  • Name of your Regional Centre and Study Centre
  • Name of the University you want to migrate to

Step 3: Make a Demand Draft

Head over to any public bank, preferably State Bank of India (SBI), and make a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 500 in favor of IGNOU. Ensure the DD is payable at the city of your Regional Centre. For instance, if your Regional Centre is in Pune, the DD should be payable to “IGNOU, Pune.”

Fill in the demand draft details in the form, including:

  • Amount: Rs. 500
  • Date: DD issuance date (e.g., 01-04-2024)
  • Bank Name: State Bank of India
  • Place of Issue: Pune (City/Branch Name)

Step 4: Attach Required Documents

Attach the following documents to the form:

  • Original Demand Draft
  • Self-attested (signed) photocopies of your:
    • Marksheet
    • Degree Certificate (or Provisional Certificate)

Step 5: Submission

You have two options for submitting your application:

  • Send it to your regional centre via Speed Post.
  • Submit it in person by visiting your regional centre.

Ensure all documents are securely attached and the envelope is properly sealed before submission.

Do note that if you submit the form in person then you may get the migration certificate immediately but if you send it via speed post then it may take two weeks for it to get delivered to your address.
