History Behind The Name of Intel, Yahoo,Microsoft, Google, Apple and Adobe...

True but really interesting things.

Intel
Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore are
the
founders of Intel. Initially they
wanted to name it
as “Moore Noyce” Later they
found that there was another company
with
that name
which ran a group of hotels.
Therefore, they decided to look
for another name.
Then they were toying with the
name
‘More Noise’. They thought, for a
semiconductor
company this name could be a wrong
name. Then for the first year they
used ‘NM Electronics’
as their company name. Finally,
Intel
got its name as a short form of Integreated Electorinics.

Microsoft
Bill Gates named Microsoft from
two
words. Microcomputer and
Software. In year 1975, Bill Gates wrote a
letter
to his colleague Paul Allen, he
wrote
as Micro-Soft.
But in 1976 they registered the name
Microsoft as a single name.

Yahoo
The first name of Yahoo was
“Jerry
and David’s Guide to the World Wide
Web”.
In 1994 it changed its name to
Yahoo. The name was taken from
a
phrase from Jonathan Swift’s novel, Gulliver’s
Travels. YAHOO is the short form
of
the phrase
“Yet Another Hierarchical Officious
Oracle”. This word refers to a barbaric
and uncivilized youth.
The founders Jerry Yang and
David
Filo wanted to choose this name
as they wanted themselves
to be wittingly categorized thus.

Adobe
Adobe is the name of a river. One
of
the founders of Adobe, John Nack, lives in
Los Altas in California. This river
runs
behind his house.

Google
Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the founders of Google.
When they
were
studying in
Stanford University, they worked
on a
project report to create an online Search engine.
Their aim was simple. When
someone
searched for a keyword, the result
should fetch huge
number of relevant sites. In fact they
wished for Googol number of
results.
Yes Googol represents a number
which is 1 followed by 100
zeroes. Therefore they wanted
to name it as googol. But when
they
submitted their project report for
funding to an investor,
the investor gave a cheque which was
payable to ‘Google’ instead of
Googol.
So that was a spelling mistake. But
Larry and Sergey decided to keep
it as google and
thats how the name came about.

Apple
The founder of Apple Inc, Steve
Jobs
used to work in an Apple Farm. When
he decided to
start his business, he joked with
his
friends that if they did not
suggest a name for his
company he will then name it as
Apple Computers. Obviously his
friends could not come out with
a name and hence Steve named it
as Apple Computers.

Facebook Introduces Shared Album Feature...

Facebook on Monday began letting members collaborate on shared online photo albums at the leading social network.
The Shared Album feature was to be introduced slowly, first becoming available to a small group of English-language users before gradually spreading across the social network.

"A shared album is an album that multiple people can upload photos to," Facebook said in an online post explaining the new feature.

"When you make an album shared, you can add your friends as contributors," the post continued. "This allows them to add, view and edit photos in the album."

Previously, Facebook members could only add photos to their own online albums at the social network.
The new feature, inspired by feedback from Facebook users, is intended to let friends or family members collaborate on photo albums memorializing shared events or occasions.

Facebook members can invite as many as 50 friends to contribute digital photos to online albums.

Privacy settings allow sharing of albums to be limited to those who contribute or opened to friends of contributors or the public, according to Facebook.

Now Deleting Yourself From The Internet Becomes Easier...

Deleting yourself from the Internet is hard work. First, you have to decide where exactly you want to disappear — from social media sites to retailer databases — and then you have to figure out how you're going to do all that.
So attention, web users. Thisis something you'll want to bookmark.
A new site called JustDelete.me makes vanishing from the web much, much easier. Created by U.K.-based developer Robb Lewis, JustDelete.me is a directory of urls that highlights links to pages you may want to remove yourself from, so you don't have to jump through hoops to do so. This includes sites like Facebook, Foursquare, Dropbox and Feedly.
Some companiesuse "dark pattern" techniques, which makes it difficult and tenuous to delete accounts.
This is meant to sway users from successfully completing the removal process.
JustDelete.me ranks each site's process from "easy" to"impossible," so you know what to expect ahead of time. For example, Amazon.com and the NewYorkTimes.com are rated "hard" to delete, while movie directory IMDB.com and PayPal are listed as "easy."
Sites such as Pinterest and Netflix are
"impossible."
The next time you want to call it quits with a site, visit JustDelete.me and save yourself from a headache.
